When I help customers at my Pop Up Shops, I often get asked one simple question - 

How do you wear a headband? 

Well the joy of it is, you can get endlessly creative when styling your headband. There is no right or wrong way to wear them.

I love changing the hairstyle with a headband to suit my mood, and also of course it depends on the amount of time I have to get ready. 

The reason I love headbands so much is for the confidence they give you.

The cliche is that they are for schoolgirls, but the reality is that worn with some flair they are unequalled in the accessory world as a confidence booster. 

If you love a headband for the ultimate confidence boost then these top 5 hairstyles with headbands are fantastic to have up your sleeve. 

1) Hair gently swept back with headband: classic and chic 

The easiest hairstyle to wear with a headband is just simply with your hair down to accentuate your flowing locks!

In this hairstyle we have gently used the headband to pull the hair back from the face, whilst allowing a few strands to fall forwards, for a soft finish. 

This is the perfect go-to hairstyle for everyday when you are in a rush and just want to give yourself a boost in seconds. 

It's practical as well as timelessly stylish. 

Wearing a headband in this chic way will make you feel like you can take on the world! 

For this look we have used our brown suede headband which is the perfect choice for everyday. The luxe fabric gives you a lovely a boost and adds soft texture to your look. 

A fabric hair band is a great choice for everyday, and this style works equally well with a jewelled headband for added va-va-voom.

2) Hair swept fully back with headband: volume at front

Don't you find that when your hair feels like it's got great volume, it gives you a confidence boost?

It's that freshly washed feeling. The good news is that adding volume with a headband is very easy. 

In this style we've added extra volume at the front of the hair with some back-combing, keeping it natural.

Then we swept the hair back, and used some hair spray to keep the volume in place.

Finally we secured the hair style in place with a headband. 

You can use your favourite headband for this style, whether that be a padded headband or a jewelled headband like we have used here.

Just pop the headband on to elevate your look, and to push the backcombing forwards for confidence-boosting volume.

A messy updo is a go-to hairstyle for so many of us when we are rushing out of the house and just want our hair out of our faces. 

But what if I told you that your messy updo could become a glamorous updo in seconds just by adding a jewelled headband. 

At first it feels counter-intuitive. Aren't jewelled headbands for polished outfits and special events?

The answer is that they can actually be a fun finishing touch to a relaxed, undone hairstyle. 

For this hairstyle we have doubled up on the accessories by using a hair claw and a jewelled headband  in coordinating colours for an eye-catching finish. 

To create the look - gather all your hair into a low ponytail and wrap around to create a bun. Then secure in place with a hair claw clip to create your messy updo. We have used our rose gold snake claw to secure our messy updo. 

To take this look to the next level pop on your jewelled headband and you will be stepping into your most confident self. 

4) Hair flowing on one side: glamorous Old-Hollywood waves 

If you are looking for a hairstyle that oozes glamour then look no further. Try this out and you will feel red carpet ready! 

The soft Old-Hollywood waves are full of movement. Paired with a headband for added va-va-voom, this hairstyle will have you feeling like Hollywood Royalty in no time. 

To create this hairstyle start by putting your hair into a side parting. Add a curl to your hair creating S-shaped waves.

Smooth your hair over with a brush and some serum for a glossy look.

On the opposite side to the waves, pin your hair behind your ear with some grips.

Finally place your favourite headband behind your ears, leaving the waves flowing on one side for extra allure. 

A padded headband is the perfect accessory for this hairstyle for classic lift.

5) Elevated evening look with a vintage-inspired quiff 

Parties and special occasions are the perfect excuse to create fun and elevated hairstyles that take your look to the next level.

Try this hairstyle and you'll have heads turning...

A vintage-inspired quiff is a feel-good way to add volume to your hair. It's a sassy look that sets off your headband and the twinkle in your eye perfectly. 

To create this hairstyle start by getting a section of your hair and backcombing to create the volume for a quiff. 

Then gather the rest of your hair into a half up half down and secure with a hair clip at the back. 

To finish the quiff: smooth the backcombed section over to one side of your face and secure in place behind your ear with a bobby pin, pushing the quiff forward to create maximum volume. 

For the final and most sparkly step, grab your favourite headband - a jewelled headband is perfect for evening glamour -and slip it on behind your quiff to make your bold statement.
